The Blasphemer: A Return to Eden | A Book Like No Other Podcast S2:E4
Is there any redemption for the mekallel? In this episode, Rabbi Fohrman and Imu head back to Leviticus to explore a fascinating connection between the mekallel, the utopian laws of the Jubilee year, and the Torah’s original utopia, Eden. This new thread of evidence shines a more uplifting light on our dark text - while unlocking unexpected insight into how we as a society may be able to offer disenfranchised individuals, like the mekallel, a more genuine and meaningful sense of belonging.
To learn more about how meaningful service - avodah - is a path back to Eden, listen to this episode of Meaningful Judaism: bit.ly/4egsVKn

    So, basically, idolatry is a desire for control? That's interesting...that means idolatry really doesn't require a pagan god as a focus.

    This season was insightful, and I love the faith it takes to see Gods ultimate good even in what seems like a dark situation. You guys should really pick up the Christian new testament, which expounds on some of these topics in incredible ways. Joseph was a foreshadow of Jesus, whom his brothers hated and betrayed, but later is found to be the ruler. The story of Abraham and Isaac’s sacrifice is a foreshadow of God offering up his son Jesus on the cross. The reason we are able to go back to God after death is because Jesus descend into hell, led captivity captive, snatching away the keys of hell from Satan, thus making a way for people to be reconciled back to God.

    This was also the sin of Adam with his Words when he blamed Eve and God with his words to cover what he did. He killed Eve and God with his Words and Cain did it with his hands. It grew from spiritual to physical sin. The sin of not loving his neighbor or maker.

    people do not read and just go with the traditions of man. Exodus 23:15-16 Says to count Omar 7 weeks and then count another 50 days. First time He came off the mountain he broke the tablets for their idolatry worshipping a golden calf. worshipping a golden calf. So He did not give the Commandments then and had to go back up to get the commandments and bring them back down again and that’s when he gave the Torah to them. At least that what scriptures says.

    Nice Explanation. But I really have a question? Why, why evrytime the jews of now a days has to keep saying that Joseph was a God fearing Jew? Why not Hebrew or Israelite? A god fearing Hebrew? Jew is explicitly referring to the descendants of Yahudah. I think it is a conditional way to put a thought in other believers mind, with all respect. Shalom

    Uhh let’s be very clear. Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai was able to appreciate people who work the land in honor of Hashem and his Torah. It’s pretty clear he would not extend that tolerance to people who desecrate Shabbat, steal, lie, have forbidden relationships etc. It is very misguided on your end to try to make generalizations with today’s secular world.

    I think the foreshadowing of Christ is brilliantly displayed in this story. Joseph had the two dreams that his brothers and even parents would bow before him. The dreams represented the heavens and the earth. (Jesus in Mathew’s gospel telling us all authority in heaven and earth has been given to him.) Josoph was robbed with a coat by his father. Think of how many instances prior to this story had someone either given a garment or someone grasping for a garment. The garment is a symbol of authority. Jacob is given authority by his father over his brothers and they hate him for that. They take his coat and leave him for dead. Without complaint, Joseph goes through trials and is eventually given the second highest seat of authority in the world with only Pharaoh above. He is given this authority and the brothers do come and bow before home. I can’t help but think of Jesus who came to his people but they rejected His authority. The Roman soldiers fought over His garments. I can’t help but believe that as all of creation comes under the rule of Christ but the end Israel to will finally kneel.

    Thank you very much for this series. In the Greek portion of the Bible at the end [Revelation chapter 22], the Tree of Life re-appears in the Kingdom of Heaven and the fruit is mentioned as part of it, but the leaves are more important. . "In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bore twelve manner of fruit (meant in the Greek literally or figuratively) and yielded its fruit (same word repeated) every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations." . "And if anyone should take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, of those having been written in this book." . Earlier in the Gospel of Mark in 8:24 after the initial healing a formerly blind man responds, "And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking." . After hearing this series, the grafting of future believers would be into The Tree of Life, thus participating with the Creator in the future Kingdom of Heaven, New Jerusalem - is the conclusion of the original plan intended for mankind from Adam {mankind} and Chava [life]. . "All Israel shall be saved;" is what Romans 11 expounds 6-times that believers will be grafted into "the olive tree" - the 12 Tribes of Jacob shall return to Israel and the completion through faith will fulfill what all of the prophets expressed - all in all.

    • @eshel7
      @eshel7 2 месяца назад

      What does name Esther mean? STAR Formed as a method of concealment, Esther is thought to be forged from the Hebrew root s-t-r, which means "hide," in reference to the *Persian queen's hidden identity.* However, Esther is most often traced to the Old Persian stāra, which means "star," aligning the name to the Near Eastern goddess Ishtar. Her name has a sort of two-fold meaning, where a righteous person disguised to somewhat resemble a pagan goddess. Much like Joseph was disguised as an Egyptian. The fact that she was "hidden" and the story is all about concealment of HaShem, etc. makes the title of Esther appropriate.

      Interesting.... I was thinking that GD was within both she and Mordecai. They are like a picture of Adam & Eve themselves, where they are no longer husband and wife, but as they're supposed to be close relatives. In a way a sister with a much older brother or close cousins. Abba sort of seems in the background seemingly watching them both giving them freedom in making their choices on how to handle situations. It's a story in similarity to Joseph and Pharaoh in that Joseph seems to play the prominent role in authority with the people and Pharaoh sort of hangs back in the background in all the decision making with Joseph occasionally consulting Pharaoh. Where in the Esther story the consulting is similar in that Esther fast and prays and Mordecai as well prays to GD who seems in the background.
